The Civil Code of Quebec provides several rules so that the legal filiation matches as much as possible with the biological filiation.  Unfortunately, this is not always the case.  

Therefore, disputes may occur to determine who the actual father of a child is. Indeed, the presumed father may contest his paternity or the mother may refuse to recognize a man who claims his status as being the father of her child.

At any event, a DNA test may be ordered by the Court.
